Leonora Zirhali

Leonora is a lady in her fifties who had been out of paid employment for a considerable period of time prior to attending TNG Rochdale, having spent the majority of her time raising her children and taking care of her grandson.

Sandra McDermott

When Sandra, from charity Family Support Link (an agency who supports families of drug users) initially considered the possibility of using the Mentoring programme, she was doubtful about how the programme could be beneficial to the charity.  However, after discussing it in great detail with Mentoring Co-ordinator Liz, Sandra recognised the structured nature of the Mentoring programme and came to the realisation that it could have a positive impact on the way she and her staff worked.

Farooq Ahmad

Farooq, 38, was keen to pursue his career as a driver but wasn’t confident that he would be successful getting through an the interview process for a career with First Bus.

Gareth Connolly

Gareth, 27, had been out of paid employment for one year before joining TNG Rochdale.  Gareth had an interest in the IT sector but was unaware of the courses that would be available to him, and he avoided college as he believed it to be costly.

Amran Iqbal

Amran, who is thirty years old, had been out of work for nearly two years prior to joining TNG Rochdale.  He was keen to obtain literacy and numeracy qualifications at TNG to help improve his job prospects and "improve his chances of being successful".

Celine Warrington

Celine, 28, left school at 13 having gained no qualifications.  After leaving prison, she took advantage of short courses and training available to her through the OLASS project in the East Midlands, which lead to her gaining employment with a social enterprise business in Nottingham.

Nicola came to TNG having been unemployed for 12 months. During her first few visits, she was very negative and picky about where she wanted to go on placement as she was keen to gain experience in the admin sector.

Susan is a bright and enthusiastic young woman who, after passing qualifications to work within the travel industry, was disappointed to be made redundant due to a company takeover.

Gabs Tiranti

Gabs Tiranti, a Tutor at Creating Futures, Crawley used the TNG Mentoring service.  He said:

 

“Having a TNG Mentor, Kevin, has enabled me to have options.  I can offer my clients a far better service.  His one-to-one work helps me focus on my clients, knowing that their “other” issues are being addressed.”

Andy Snelgar

Andy, 22, found work as a Catering assistant after he used the Mentoring service.  He says:

 

 “TNG Mentoring has helped me gain more experience and more confidence since I’ve finished the Prince’s Trust programme.  I’ve learnt a variety of skills from voluntary work, including how to use a till and chip and pin machine.  I’m looking forward to changing my direction so I can find catering work that is the right level for me.”

Deborah Arnold

Deborah is a Lone parent Adviser from Crawley Job Centre.  She was introduced to the TNG mentoring programme, and refers her clients to the programme so they can gain confidential and impartial support and encouragement about a range of professional and personal issues.

Michelle Green

Michelle is a Manager at training provider Tomorrow’s People Trust.  After attending a Mentoring Awareness session, Michelle was keen to get an Adviser from TNG to deliver these sessions to the Gate Way clients on a fortnightly basis.

Hayley McMahon

The TNG Mentoring programme is aimed to provide encouragement, support and guidance to Mentee’s.  The Mentee’s are referred to TNG from their local provider and are invited to an initial meeting with their Mentor, who will help them identify barriers they need to overcome, whether this is lacking in confidence, self- esteem, debt/financial problems, drug/alcohol abuse, ex-offender or gaining employment.
