TNG Ramsgate celebrates customer achievements

Operating from the Argyle Centre in Ramsgate, TNG works alongside three other training providers (Thanet College, SES Tutors and Maximus UK) to overcome the high unemployment of the deprived coastal towns of Thanet.

The event began with refreshments and networking, followed by a short film (produced by two young media graduates using the ‘Oscar’ theme) that detailed the services provided by each organisation to support learners and jobseekers in the area.

Mini Oscars, certificates and gift vouchers were then presented to the eight winners (two from each training provider) by the new Principal of Thanet College, Graham Razey, and the Mayor of Ramsgate.

The two customers from TNG who were presented with awards at the event were Kay Byatt and Jean Charles.

Before coming to TNG, Kay lacked work experience as she had been away from the workplace for many years raising a family on her own. Kay joined the SES tutors Learn direct facility to improve her literacy and numeracy skills and was then introduced to TNG as she needed help finding a job.

With the help of TNG, Kay completed First Aid and Health and Safety training, both of which encouraged her to continue her studies at Learn Direct and introduced her to a website to practice her speed tying. Kay went on to head up a group jobsearch activity supporting other single parents on a visit to Canterbury.

When Jean came to TNG, he lacked confidence and felt he was unsuccessful in his jobsearch as he had a strong Parisian accent and ethnic background.  He was given help by his TNG adviser, Tina, who worked with him to focus on his skills and experience and how to present them in the best possible way.
