Unemployed volunteers help keep Friskney’s Parrot Zoo up to scratc

After leaving university with a degree in Creative Music and Sound Technology, Daniel Atkinson, 23, was looking forward to a glittering career in the music industry. One year later, he was struggling on benefits, unable to find a permanent job in his chosen industry local to his home in Grantham. Today, with help from TNG, a national welfare to work training provider in The George Centre, Grantham, he is back in work, enjoying his new career as a television and film engineer.

Leading welfare-to-work provider, Avanta, incorporating the two delivery companies TNG and InBiz, has been successful in securing a position on the Employment Related Services Framework in seven regions, the maximum that can be awarded to any one organisation.

Noel Brannigan, 54, from Darlington, is celebrating finding a new job after becoming the 100th person TNG, a national welfare to work training provider, has helped from benefits and into employment since October 2009.

TNG have been delivering the Lone Parent programme in Merseyside for the past three years with great success. Originally launched as a pilot in the region, demand for the programme exceeded expectation and it was extended for a further two years.

TNG and A4e, two welfare to work training providers which help Norfolk's unemployed into work, are to play a charity football match on 11 September 2010 at North Lynn, Kingsway, Kings Lynn.

Avanta is committed to both keeping its partners informed as well as to consulting with them. Our existing subcontractors in FND have been previously briefed about government decisions to replace the programme with the new Work Programme from 2011.

Avanta, incorporating TNG & InBiz, successfully achieved the Matrix Standard in May. Over 200 staff, customers and employers were interviewed during two weeks of visits by Matrix assessors. Visits took place to over 15 offices up and down the country including the company head office in Enfield.
