TNG helping to lift people off benefits and into work in Greater Manchester TNG in Greater Manchester commended in official Ofsted report for providing quality service to unemployed people in the region

TNG in Greater Manchester has been praised in the official Ofsted report as having provided good support to participants to overcome personal barriers to employment and for having high job outcomes.

TNG delivers the New Deal Prime Contract in Manchester East and West, a Government programme designed to move people from benefits into work through a combination of training, mentoring and work placements.

Greater Manchester has an unemployment rate of 2.6%, compared to a national average of 2.2%, with Rochdale having the highest benefit claimant rate in the UK. TNG delivers the Government’s New Deal from eight centres across Greater Manchester, aiming to help customers identify job opportunities and move into sustained employment.

The Ofsted report praised TNG for its good development of participants’ personal and employability skills, good matching of participants to employment opportunities and for its supportive management and good team work. One participant even commented, “I learned more at TNG than in my entire time at school.”

Dawn Marsh, TNG Director of Northern Region, said, “I am pleased that TNG’s achievements have been recognised in the Ofsted report. TNG will continue to provide Manchester East and West with a tailored, individual training and mentoring service to help people take the step from benefits and into sustainable employment.”
