Gareth Connolly

Gareth, 27, had been out of paid employment for one year before joining TNG Rochdale.  Gareth had an interest in the IT sector but was unaware of the courses that would be available to him, and he avoided college as he believed it to be costly. 

 

TNG advised Gareth of courses that were running at the local college, and explained that he may be eligible for funding.  After successfully applying, Gareth is now on course to complete a HND in Computer Gaming in September 2008.

 

Keen to develop his basic skills, Gareth is set to take his literacy (level 2) and numeracy (level 2) with TNG in the near future. He has already passed his practice tests for both subjects and looks set to pass his qualifications.

 

In terms finding work, Gareth is currently on a placement at a

Multicultural and Multimedia Arts centre where he is using his knowledge of

IT to create websites and carry out software and hardware maintenance for the centre's director.  Gareth has expressed that he "loves his placement" because it enables him to work within an area he has immense interest in and use his skills to their potential.

 

Gareth is already planning for his future and has an interest in setting up his own IT business.
