Faith in the future

Daniel Andrews, 23, from Rochdale, had been unemployed for two years having suffered from drug dependency issues previously. He is now in employment thanks to receiving training and guidance from TNG.

 

 Daniel had been using cannabis most of his life, until he joined TNG, a national training and consultancy programme. In August 2006, he was put in a work placement in an administrative role. However, due to his past, Daniel did not feel that he should be working with money. He was upfront and admitted this to his work placement manager, and unfortunately, as a result, the placement ended.

 

Daniel spent the next year searching for jobs at the TNG centre in Rochdale. He was offered another placement but this did not work out following company insolvency. Daniel was left downhearted about his chances of ever entering into employment.

 

One of TNG’s placement advisers realised that Daniel needed some extra help to remove his emotional barriers that prevented him from finding work and discovered, that with a young daughter at home, what Daniel really wanted was a job which would enable him to provide for his family.

 

Daniel’s placement officer had faith in him, and decided that he was worth taking a chance on. Daniel was lined up with a work placement in local department store. Daniel’s dedication and commitment was such that within a week, he was offered a job.

 

Daniel is now in employment, and is proud to be supporting his family. He said, “Thanks to TNG, I can now look forward to providing for my little girl and creating a future for my family. Having a job means so much to me- I can put my past behind me and look to a happy future.”

 

Daniel’s TNG Adviser, Kelly Smith, said, “Daniel’s issues meant he struggled to find placements that suited him. Through our work with him, he saw that he could realise his dream of providing for his family. Daniel has had to overcome a lot of hurdles to get to where he is today, but he succeeded and has every right to be proud of his achievements.”
