TNG gives back to the local community in Birkenhead
22 May 2007

The office in Birkenhead has put 53 people into employment in the past 6 months and many of these are the result of practical training with the TNG community project team.

Michael Edwards joined the TNG community project team to help with the rebuilding and painting of the All Saints church on Elleray Park road. Michael, who had been unemployed for over 6 months and was lacking in confidence and experience, flourished under the programme.

TNG helped Michael train and pass his CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) test and then found him a job with a local construction company who specialise in loft conversions.

Michael Edwards said, “I really wanted to work in construction but was worried about my lack of experience. TNG helped me get the training, qualifications and practical experience I needed. It was also great fun to work with a team on a project that was benefiting others.”

Jon Silvani, manager at TNG Birkenhead, said, “It is very important to TNG that we engage with the local communities and support the development of the area we live in.

“Through our community project programme, trainees feel as if they are giving back to the community whilst also learning more about the sector they are interested in working in.

“I am proud of all those involved in donating their time and efforts to the local community and am thrilled that we were able to help Michael secure a job that he enjoys.”
